One of the most common things we hear from new clients is: "I just didn't know what to expect." Hiring a painting contractor for your home is a significant commitment — it involves people in your space, decisions that affect how your home looks and feels, and a meaningful investment. So here's exactly what working with Vasy Painting looks like, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough.

Step 1: Your Free Quote and Consultation

It starts with a conversation. We schedule a time to walk through your home or the specific areas you want painted. We look at the surfaces, discuss your goals, and ask about colors you're considering. We take careful measurements and note anything that will affect the scope — ceiling heights, trim complexity, current paint condition, any repairs needed. From there, we provide a detailed written quote that breaks down labor, materials, and scope. No surprises in the estimate, and no surprises on the final invoice.

Step 2: Color Selection

If you're still deciding on colors when we meet, we can help. We bring experience with what works in Pacific Northwest homes — which whites feel warm vs. cold in Seattle's light, which greens complement PNW landscaping, how dark accent colors behave in lower-light rooms. We can also point you toward sampling strategies so you're confident in your choices before we start. If you have a designer or are working from a specific palette, we work seamlessly with that too.

Step 3: Prep Day

Before a drop of paint goes on, we prep. This is where quality work is made or lost. We move and cover furniture, protect floors with drop cloths, mask trim and adjacent surfaces, wash walls, patch holes and cracks, sand rough areas, caulk gaps at trim and transitions, and prime bare spots and stain-prone areas. This takes time. It's not glamorous. And it's exactly what separates a paint job that looks good for a year from one that looks good for a decade.

Step 4: Paint Application

We use premium-grade paints — Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or the client's brand of choice — applied in two full coats with appropriate dry time between coats. Ceilings, walls, and trim are painted in sequence and with the proper products for each surface. We cut in by hand for clean, sharp edges at every transition.

Step 5: Detail Work and Touch-Ups

After the main application, we go back through every room systematically. We look at edges, check for missed spots, touch up any inconsistencies, and make sure every surface looks exactly as it should. This step is not optional — it's how we make sure the project is finished, not just done.

Step 6: Cleanup and Final Walkthrough

We remove all masking and coverings, put furniture back, clean up our materials, and do a final walkthrough with you. If there's anything you're not completely happy with, we address it before we leave. We've been doing this since 2003, and our reputation is built on clients who feel genuinely taken care of. A satisfied homeowner at the end of a project is the standard we hold ourselves to, every time.
